Antique Japanese Makie Black Lacquer Tray with Mixed Materials. Stunning detail in the raised designs on the top of the tray. Possibly a scholar’s tray or dinner tray. Signed by the artist at the bottom right corner. Materials appear to be silver work, egg shell, mother of pearl, gold work and cinnabar. There is a couple of tiny blue stones missing and a small section of cinnabar is damaged. Otherwise a spectacular example of Japanese artistry.
The tray is square and measures 10” wide and 1” deep.
