Offered here is this antique Japanese bronze vase/vessel featuring cranes, 3 small birds, water and a tree. This piece is from the Meiji Period circa 1868-1912 and it is signed by the artist on the bottom with etched Japanese characters. There is a single Japanese character signed on the bottom of one of the feet as well (see last picture). This vase has an unusual oval form which sits on 3 elevated feet. The handles are of a figural beast, with either its long tongue protruding or it is swallowing a snake. The vase is in very good condition with a dark patina. There are a few scratches but no dents or deep gouges. The vase measures 9 1/2" tall, 8 3/4" wide and 7 3/4" long. It is quite heavy and solid. Very good artistic quality.
